Dirk Gently – Douglas Adams based BBC 4 holistic detective

BBC Four has been working away on a new show based on the Douglas Adams’ books Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. Dirk Gently is a quirky chap, kind of like a cross between Doctor Who and Sherlock (the new one), or at least that’s how he seemed to me in the trailer.

Here’s the official BBC Four Spiel:
“Anti-hero Dirk Gently operates his eponymous detective agency based on the fundamental interconnectedness of all things. Perpetually broke, hopelessly chaotic and utterly infuriating, most people suspect Dirk is nothing more than a cheap conman. And they might be right—but nevertheless his methods, though unusual, do often produce surprising results.”

The trailer looks cool. And bonus, it looks like eponymous hero Dirk Gently has a pal and she is played by Helen Baxendale who is awesome!
